An On-Demand Webcast Feature on Cybersecurity TV

The DoD is implementing a Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) that offers a consistent roadmap for the Defense Industrial Base (DIB), and beyond, to mature its overall Cybersecurity capabilities in a proactive way to enhance their business case, protect their brand, while protecting our Nation’s Economy and Security. The CMMC ecosystem consists of various organizations managed and coordinated by the CyberAB and the Cybersecurity Assessor and Instructor Certification Organization (CAICO), they currently include:

  • Organizations Seeking Compliance (OSC)
  • CMMC Third-Party Assessment Organizations (C3PAO)
  • Provisional Assessors/ Certified CMMC Professionals/ Certified CMMC Assessors
  • Registered Practitioner Organization (RPO)
  • Registered Practitioner (RP)/ Registered Practitioner Advanced (RPA)
  • Licensed Publishing Partners (LPPs)/ Licensed Training Providers (LTPs)
  • Provisional Instructors

This ecosystem includes more than 600 organizations and 3500 individuals. Our Panel includes professionals who have invested time and effort over the past 2 – 3 years to develop a healthy ecosystem from each of the categories above. In this session, you will learn about the CMMC Model and the requirements that organizations that do business with the DoD are required to protect Federal Contract Information (FCI) and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). You will hear from Certified and Registered organizations and personnel who have embraced the urgency of this initiative and are currently implementing the consulting, training, and assessment activities necessary to address the entire Defense Industrial Base (DIB), helping you to achieve the necessary awareness required to:

  • Identify threats to you within the Defense Supply Chain
  • Identify the sensitive information that must be protected
  • Understand how the CMMC Model ensures existing federal acquisition regulations
  • Understand that participation is a discriminator for your organization, particularly important doing business under lowest price technically acceptable source selections
  • Establish your certification and assessment boundaries for both self and third party evaluation

The presentation will provide an overview of CMMC, how it puts a better focus on existing FAR requirements and provide guidance, particularly for Small and Medium size businesses that desire to do, or continue to do, business with the Federal Government. It addresses public companies that will need guidance to meet the growing SEC requirements related to Cyber Security Governance. The presentation will also introduce educational initiatives AFCEA is pursuing to achieve a Cyber Secure ecosystem.
